A25: 1840 (21 July) from Bishops-Stortford to Ventnor, Isle of Wight cancelled by lightly struck Maltese Cross in red with red boxed "no. 1" receiving house alongside in matching ink, the reverse with "Bishops Stotford Penny Post" handstamp, collection d.s and London transit marking. Small split at top otherwise fine and scarce.
