QL, close to large margins, just shaving the outer frame line at upper left, tied by superb red Maltese Cross in bright vermilion shade to 1840 (23 July) entire letter from Lauder to Cockenzie near Preston, the reverse with straight line "lauder" and circular receiving d.s.; entire trimmed at sides though of superb appearance.
