China, Qing Dynasty, Hupeh Province, [PCGS AU Detail] silver 1 tael, 30th year of Guang Xu (1904), 'Da Qing Yin Bi', small characters variety, (LM-180, K-933), Cleaned, cert. #50566980. The Hupeh double dragon tael is definitely among the most recognisable Qing Dynasty coins. The short-lived issue is often reproduced, with genuine examples being few and far between. The present lot on offer is well struck and nicely toned in salmon pink and viridian around the devices.
