Auction: CSS112C - WORLD, MACAU AND HONG KONG COINS AND BANKNOTES
Lot: 2207

The HongKong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, pair of progressive proofs $5 cut from a unique sheet, ND (1959-75), brown on pale green and orange underprint, reclining maiden at right, coat of arms at centre, reverse brown and multicolour, bank building at centre, printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Limited,
(Pick 182 for type), PMG 66EPQ (Top Pop) and 65EPQ respectively. Note that Bradbury Wilkinson are not known to produce remainders and these notes were cut from 'pre-final production' proofs sheets that were created for final approval from the printer and HSBC. Hence the remainder should be a proof. Exceedingly rare, a must-have for any serious collector of vintage Hong Kong banknotes. (2)
