1869 (16 June) mourning envelope from Sydney, marked "Via Southampton, Per R.M.S. Avoca", bearing New South Wales 6d. violet and 1/- rose-carmine clearly tied by duplex, showing red crayon "11" and "1", London Paid transit c.d.s. (13.8) and, on reverse, clear arrival datestamp (2.9). A most attractive franking illustrating the 1/6d. per ½oz rate via Southampton. Photo

Note: This cover was carried by the "Avoca" which left Sydney on 17 June and arrived at Galle on 13 July, with the mail reaching Southampton on 12 August.
